REGULATIONS

 International Competition of Draughts Composition „In memoriam S.Žilevičius (1956-2017), J. Leišys (1950-2024)“ organized by the Lithuanian draughts composition amateur’s union/Lietuvos šaškių kompozicijos mėgėjų sąjunga (LŠKMS)

 1. Competition rules:

1.1. The competition is held in accordance with the requirements of the International Rules (RI) CPI FMJD for problems (part I, Master rules) and for competitions (part II) , draughts "100".

1.2. The competition is held in two categories:

1.2.1. Category A. Miniatiures with no kings in the starting position. The starting position must have at least 5x5 draughts, the maximum number of draughts is 7x7. In the initial position, the difference between the number of white and black (black and white) draughts cannot be more than 1 draught.

1.2.2. Category B. Problems with no kings in the starting position. The starting position must have at least 10x10 draughts, the maximum number of draughts is 15x15. In the initial position, the difference between the number of white and black (black and white) draughts cannot be more than 1 draught.

1.2.3. There is a prerequisite: White starts and wins.

1.3. All interested composers are allowed to participate in the competition. Due to decisions of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD) and the Lithuanian Draughts Federation (LŠF), participation is prohibited for representatives and citizens of countries whose membership in the FMJD is suspended: Russia and Belarus, also due to the resolution of the World Draughts Federation (FMJD) of 16.09.2024 for persons, who participated in draughts events and tournaments after 16.09.2024 along with persons from national draughts federations of the Russian Federation or Republic of Belarus irrespective of the status of the person and using or not national symbolic of the Russian Federation or Republic of Belarus, prohibited from participating in in this competition.

1.4. Both new compositions and published ones (including the Internet), but not earlier than 01.01.2000, are allowed.

1.5. The competition is held in absentia from 01.05.2026 to 30.11.2026.

1.6. Participants can submit in each category to the competition no more than 2 creations, drawn up each in 1 copy, indicating the solution, date and place of publication (if the creation was published), name and surname, mailing address of the participant. Participation in the competition means that the participant agrees and complies with the terms of the Competition Regulations.

1.7. If in the initial position a white draught is attacked by a black draught, it is obligatory to prove legality, except for a natural attack on the white draught.

1.8. Not allowed to participate:

1.8.1. Collective works.

1.8.2. Compositions that have participated in other competitions before the start of this competition and/or that will participate in other competitions before the end of this competition.

1.9. Creations must be sent not earlier than 01.05.2026 and not later than 25.05.2026 (inclusive) by email to the competition coordinator kaciuska@splius.lt ,or algimantas318@gmail.com ,or by registered postal letter (this is a mandatory condition for sending by post mail) to the mailing address of the competition coordinator: Algimantas Kačiuška, Architektų 38-21, 78263 Šiauliai, Lietuva – Lithuania. Replacement of the submitted creations is not allowed.

1.10. Competition coordinator  - Algimantas Kačiuška (Lithuania). Judges of the competition: Steponas Petrauskas (Lithuania), Tjipke Smedinga (Netherlands), Michael Tsvetov (Israel).

1.11. The competition is financed by Algimantas Kačiuška, Rimas Mackevičius, Gintaras Magelinskas. Competition prize fund – 900 EUR.

 2. Determination of winners:

2.1. Each composition is evaluated and gets a place, unless it gets a “0”.

2.2. The final score of the composition is the average score obtained from the sum of the

average of the two extreme (minimum and maximum) scores and the central score of the judges between them.

 3. Rewarding:

3.1. The authors of the compositions in each category that took 1 - 3 places, are awarded with diplomas and cash prizes: for the 1st place - 200 EUR, for the 2nd place - 150 EUR, for the 3rd place - 100 EUR.

 4. The Lithuanian text of the Regulations will have priority in the case of a dispute due to differences in the Lithuanian, English and Russian texts.

 5. Information about the competition will be posted on the  LŠKMS website http://www.lskms.puslapiai.lt/
